Development Editing
After your manuscript has successfully passed our review criteria, the next step is, of course, putting your story into a high quality, well written, masterpiece of publishing!
Offering both e-book publishing and softback / hardback publishing and promo services, we’re ready to get your story to the general public!
We will publish your book with a full-color cover, hardcover or softcover, black & white interior or full-color interior. Your e-book will be produced with all the professionalism required by the industry.
Choose the format that best fits your content.
A large majority of our books are published in these sizes: 5.5″ X 8.5″, 6″ X 9″, 8.5″ X 11″, 7″ X 10″ and a special gift-book size of 8″ X 8″. Our books have full-color, laminated covers, and are produced in our very own facility. Most other book publishing companies can produce only a 5.5″ X 8.5″ book and many of them do not offer an 8″ X 8″ book. The ability to produce an 8.5″ X 11″ book is important for children’s books, workbooks, how-to books, and books with large interior photos, tables and charts, etc.
Also, we offer some high-end, expert eBook Formatting:
Have you ever seen an eBook with huge gaps in the text, blank pages, or obvious formatting errors? You wouldn’t want your book published that way, and neither would we. That’s why we review every eBook we publish. In fact, we GUARANTEE the conversion of your book to eBook.
Here’s a breakdown of what a developmental editor typically does and looks for:
Focus Areas:
- Story/Concept: Does the core idea of the book work? Is it original, compelling, and well-executed? For fiction, this includes the premise, plot, pacing, and overall structure. For non-fiction, it’s about the central argument, thesis, and organization of information.
- Structure and Pacing: Is the book logically organized? Does the story or information unfold at an engaging pace? Are there any sections that feel rushed, too slow, or out of place?
- Character Development (Fiction): Are the characters believable, well-developed, and engaging? Do their motivations make sense? Do they grow and change throughout the story?
- Clarity and Cohesion: Is the writing clear and easy to understand? Does the manuscript flow smoothly from one section to the next? Are there any inconsistencies or areas of confusion?
- Target Audience: Is the book appropriate for the intended audience? Does it meet their expectations and provide them with what they are looking for?
- Voice and Tone: Is the author’s voice consistent and appropriate for the genre and subject matter? Is the tone effective in conveying the intended message or mood?
- Marketability: Does the book have potential in the current market? Are there comparable titles that have been successful?
